Town Hall meeting rescheduled Posted by mbaro on May 1st, 2009 The FIU Town Hall Meeting originally scheduled for Monday, May 4 has been rescheduled, due to delays in the budget process in Tallahassee.
The next Town Hall meeting will be held on Monday, May 18 at 10 a.m. in the Graham Center Ballrooms, University Park. As in the past, the meeting will be broadcast live to the Biscayne Bay Campus, where members of the community will be able to participate from the Wolfe University Center Ballrooms.
Please mark your calendars and plan to attend, as we will be having an important discussion about the future of our institution.

Hi All - from our meeting Wednesday - it appears that RS was cut because many faculty and administrators do not understand our department and think we are teaching faith and doing catechism. Which of course is incorrect. I believe RS has been cut now from all the Florida state universities. It appears that only a change of heart at the legislative level would save the department.
but perhaps, huge student input, educating people about the department might change minds.
The school will maintain a certificate in RS after the program is officially closed in 3 years.

Prof. Rowan, I was speaking with my boss about concerns with the cut of the Religious Studies Department and she suggested we try and send a massive e-mail to the President. This e-mail should have some model body to it so there is some similarity. I will look for further information.

... i've decided to start accepting an amount of faith into my life through the vessel of The River of Grass Unitarian Church and a few of the other students have expressed interest, so i thought i would mention here: it is located on nob hill and cleary in plantation, they meet at central park elementary on sundays for 9 am and 11 am service.
i haven't attended yet, and because tomorrow is easter, i won't be there until next weekend. anyone willing to attend can meet me there for the 11 am service.

Hello, this is Jordan; I am not ashamed to admit that I am still unable to obtain the two required texts for this book based on finances. I will have the Ethics one (finally) by the 23rd of this month. I was wondering if it would at all be possible, in order to help myself and any other person possibly in the same situation, to either set up something local where any of us can come with or without (but at least one person with) the text books and while the readings could be shared or completed at this place the assignments, of course, could be done separately. Though, discussion could even help build better responses, but I'm just really looking for some help with the books. If you'd like to try, post here or send me an email: jrdnwill@gmail.com

Hey guys, while I don't have a way out of buying the Ethics textbook, I found a Podcast for the Eller, Cynthia. Revealing World Religions CD ROM. Not going to say that it helps you as much as buying the CD-ROM but it seems like it includes a ton of info, and it's even broken down into the different religions we have gone over in class. The Podcast Link is: http://www.thinkingstrings.com/Product/RevWorldReligions.html. If you need to download it, or you don't have iTunes: http://www.learnoutloud.com/Podcast-Directory/Religion-and-Spirituality/Comparative-Religion/Revealing-World-Religions-Podcast/20147. Hope this helps, and good luck with the ethics papers, and good luck studying for the Midterm.
